by Kathleen M. Martin

This story is a beautiful and honest record of a lifelong love affair and the difficult illness that ended it. In this book Kathleen M. Martin grapples with the clashing roles of wife, lover, dance partner, helpmate and caregiver. As she reflects on this two and a half year time period, she proves herself as unflinching in the writing of the story as she was in the living of it.

“In this honest and moving memoir, Kathleen Martin tells a tale that grips the heart. There are times when Still Dancing makes you want to avert your eyes, but Martin takes you gently by the hand on her caregiving journey and shows you hope, disappointment, romance, resentment, tenderness, and friendship. In the end, this is a story about love.” – Sherry Hinman, Editor.

Kathleen M. Martin has always written: letters, poems, pieces for community newsletters, and poems for both her children and for her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. In her career as an Early Childhood Educator she co-authored a manual for Co-Operative Nursery Schools. She supports her growth as a writer through her membership with the Writers’ Community of Durham Region and by attending workshops, retreats and conferences.

While leading the writing group and volunteering in the Healing Beyond the Body programme in Princess Margaret Hospital, Kathleen found the healing which enabled her to write this memoir.
